The Giant Pumpkin

Last spring our favorite school friend and neighbour, Jean, who helps us with our gardens, challenged the families and the school to see who could grow the largest giant pumpkin. Madeleine, Elsie and Beatrice's family brought their pumpkin along to school to be weighed. We had great fun weighing ourselves and then the pumpkin to see who was lighter, heavier or the same as the pumpkin. The pumpkin weighed 21.2kg and Evie was the closest weight to the pumpkin!

WDS Whole School Camp

Last week our whole school went to the local Waihola CYC camp for a two day, overnight camping experience. We enjoyed heaps of interesting, new experiences. The top favourite for Room One children was the flying fox! Other activities included the team challenge course, Geo caching, the assault course, rifle shooting, archery, sailing & canoeing. Not to mention new games such as Sardines & Meteors. Later at night some of the older children were treated to rabbit shooting & spotlighting. We had an action packed, awesome time. Thank you to PTA, parents & community for making our camp awesome!

Thumbs up Team. Check out our pyramid!

Chicken Surprise.

We read a book called Chicken surprise. It had three chapters. Then we made this poster about it and we retold the story.
This is our poster called Chicken Surprise. We all worked together and did a chapter each.
We hope you enjoy our poster.

My bird nest

When I was in the gully in the school holidays I found this bird nest in a flax tree.  We had to go right in the leaves.  It has egg shell in it.  It is made out of old twists sticks and sheep fur and green bits of trees.  I keep it in a box so it doesn't go all over everything.  I have it on the science table so everyone can have a look at it!

Hens

I have hens. They lay four or five eggs a day. We go in to the hen house and get the eggs. We went into it this morning to get some eggs and we cooked them for breakfast. After breakfast we played outside with our dog Lily.
