I got a trophy from rugby on Saturday. It is a VERY BIG trophy and it is VERY HEAVY too. I got it because of my tackling from the Southern game and for being the most improved player all season! I just dropped my mouth when I got it because I was so impressed with myself and my Dad was too.

The Flat Lizard
One day my cat Lightening found this lizard in the stones and brought it inside. The lizard's tail came off and Lightening chased the lizard under the mat. The lizard was squashed under the mat where Dad sits on the chair. Mum found the flat, dry lizard a few days later when she was cleaning.
The lizard's tummy is like gold and his claws look like needles.

Tortoise Soup Chapter 1 - 4
Where is
Goat?
One
morning Tortoise crawled out of his hole and went to the
river for a drink. He saw his friends, Raven and Rat, waiting there with
unhappy faces.
"What's
wrong?" said Tortoise?
"Goat's
late," answered Rat.
"Goat
is never late," said Tortoise.
"I'll
go up in the sky and see if I can see him," said Raven.
"We'll
stay here," said Tortoise and Rat.
TO THE RESCUE!
Once Tortoise, Rat,
and Raven had left the riverbank, Rat and Raven took flight. One thing that was
crazy was that rat was riding Raven like horse! Suddenly Rat could see
something in a net. So Raven glided down to check it and saw that it was
goat! He had been caught in a hunter's net! Rat quickly gnawed through the net
and set goat free. Next minute tortoise was puffing beside them.
"Oh Tortoise you shouldn't be here it is
not safe!"
Goat, Raven and Rat
ran but Tortoise couldn't keep up with them...and the hunter caught him and put
him in his hunting bag.
Goat Gets
Away
The hunter found that the goat was gone and
his net was ruined. Rat and Raven quickly escaped from the hunter. The
hunter decided to eat tortoise soup instead. He thought that tortoise
soup would be good to eat. Goat made a plan to rescue tortoise...
Tortoise Soup
Goat had an idea!
Goat would lead the hunter away from
tortoise who was trapped in the hunter's bag.
Goat raced towards the hunter and she hobbled
in front of him. The hunter said, " There's that goat and she's
hurt. Now I can catch her easily."
Rat was biting the rope on the hunter's bag,
then tortoise was free as a bee! When the hunter came back he saw the
bag was empty.
"Oh no! No tortoise soup and no goat
either!" said the hunter.
The next day at the river goat and
tortoise said to the Rat and Raven, "Thank-you for saving us!"
Rat
and Raven said, "Good friends always help each other."
Tortoise Soup
The gold group read a story called Tortoise Soup and after the reading they retold and summarised the story - first in pictures then by writing. It worked out really well because there were four chapters and four children in the gold group! Happy Reading!
